Black Women in Action
In order to counter the effect of the pandemic, the ACANEA is offering a series of workshops on Black women’s entrepreneurship which aims to equip women in their entrepreneurial projects and their professional careers, as well as to reduce the gap between men and women. Afro-Canadian Entrepreneurs Association is a place for Black business women to come together, for women to support women in either business, and a place for women to gain more business knowledge, develop strong leadership skills, and build a network of diversity to help them succeed.

About the Impact Accelerator
“Empowering women remains a common denominator and a global imperative for all those who care about fairness and diversity, but also productivity and growth of societies and economies that are more inclusive. If we can achieve this, we all gain.”- Christine Lagarde.
Female-led start-ups encounter various set of challenges during the early stage of their ventures. As we move toward achieving global goals in gender equality and reduced inequality, there is a growing concern on the gap in financing start-up ventures founded by women entrepreneurs in Alberta. Further, many female founders struggle with unconscious bias that leads to limited access to funding and other non-financial resources such as guidance, mentorship, and network to develop and grow their businesses at the same time juggle with multiple responsibilities. We’re offering 6 months of intensive support and training sessions to help you build your confidence and take your start–up or solution to the next level in your impact journey.
Our mentors, coaches and networks will work to accelerate your growth and open up new opportunities with talent, investors & suppliers. We will work with your business to develop it in a sustainable way, while solving some of the world’s greatest challenges.
Who the Accelerator is for
Late pre-seed or seed, Black female-led start-ups that aim to address the most pressing local and global challenges. You will have demonstrated traction and are now looking to develop and scale up your business. Black Female founders must be living/operating in Alberta.
The Impact Accelerator Black Female Founders is also open for ventures that have women co-founders with key leadership roles (i.e., CEO, COO, CFO or CMO).
