Impact of the African Canadian Entrepreneurs Association

The Association des entrepreneurs afro-canadiens (ACANEA) plays a key role in the economic development of entrepreneurs and francophone black communities in Canada.

1. Organization of Promotion and Networking Events

Events provide opportunities for Black entrepreneurs to showcase their products and services, meet investors and build strategic partnerships:

  • Black Business Showcase (October 21, 2023): An annual showcase to showcase francophone black businesses and create opportunities for collaboration.
  • Economic forums and conferences: Meetings with experts, investors and decision-makers to discuss challenges and opportunities in entrepreneurship.

ACANEA works with employment agencies such as Manpower to integrate black francophone talent into the labour market and reduce barriers to employment.

Example: coaching and mentoring program (January 24, 2024) for Francophone Black job seekers in partnership with Manpower and other employers.

ACANEA supports the new generation of entrepreneurs through specific programs for young black people who want to start a business.

Example: Black Youth Masterclass, a program designed to help young Black entrepreneurs grow their businesses with an emphasis on innovation, leadership and resilience.

ACANEA is working to remove financial barriers to help young entrepreneurs make their projects a reality.

Example:

  • Support for funding applications: Assistance to access FACE loans, local grants and funds for young entrepreneurs.
  • Start-up fund for young entrepreneurs: This fund is planned to provide micro-grants to young people with innovative ideas.

As the market evolves, ACANEA focuses on digital and innovation to prepare young entrepreneurs for tomorrow’s challenges.

  • Workshops on e-commerce and digital marketing to help young people develop their online presence and access international markets.
  • Training in artificial intelligence and new technologies to encourage innovation in black-led businesses.

ACANEA shapes a more equitable and prosperous economic future for all

The Association of African Canadian Entrepreneurs (ACANEA) plays a crucial role in building a stronger, more inclusive and dynamic economic ecosystem. Through strengthening Francophone entrepreneurship, encouraging innovation and promoting diversity, ACANEA is helping to transform the economic landscape and offer new opportunities for entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds.

By supporting over 1,540 entrepreneurs, creating more than 50 direct jobs and generating more than 640 job opportunities, ACANEA is proving that inclusion and innovation are key drivers of growth. By continuing its commitment, it aims to build an economic environment where every entrepreneur, regardless of origin, can thrive and contribute to the development of Canada.
