Grant for economic development and diversification

Are you a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to support and grow your local economy? Are you interested in building a stronger, more inclusive Canada? Do you need more resources to build community capacity and economic resilience? Through the Community Economic Development and Diversification (CEDD) program, PrairiesCan is making targeted investments to generate sustainable, inclusive economic growth and help communities in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba fully participate in and benefit from economic opportunities.

Economic Development Initiative Grants

The Economic Development Initiative (EDI) provides financial support for projects that encourage economic diversification, business development, innovation, partnerships and increased support for small and medium-sized businesses in official language minority communities (OLMCs).

Regional Innovation Ecosystem Grant

Are you a non-profit organization that provides support or services to innovative businesses? Is building a stronger, inclusive innovation ecosystem at the heart of your organization? Does your organization need more resources to implement innovations that would accelerate the growth of the sector? The Regional Innovation Ecosystems (RIE) program creates, develops and nurtures inclusive regional ecosystems that support: what businesses need to innovate from start to finish an environment where businesses can innovate, grow and compete

Community Initiative Program Grant

The Community Initiatives Program (CIP) Operational Stream is reviewed at least every five years to ensure the guidelines best meet the needs of Alberta communities and align with best practices in grant administration. Review the updated guidelines for changes that include CIP Operational Stream specific outcomes, new intake dates, and updates to program criteria. The CIP Operational Stream application process has changed. Applications are now only accepted through our secure online application portal called Front Office.

Edmonton Community Foundation Grants

The ECF Community Grants Program provides funding to address a variety of organizational needs. Our support is specific to your organizational needs. We reach out to organizations to determine their priority areas; this may include renovations, equipment purchases, program support, etc. 2024 guidelines will be available soon.

City of Edmonton Grants

Grants and funding programs enable the City of Edmonton to invest in programs, services and organizations that help achieve the goals identified in Connect(Ed)monton.

Black entrepreneurs make significant contributions to our communities and economy, but they face unique barriers that prevent them from realizing their full potential. BDC is here to help.

SBCCI Grants

Established in 2020, the National Funders Network is comprised of high-capacity Black-led organizations from across Canada. National funders use their specialized, on-the-ground knowledge to distribute funding to local organizations. This network ensures that Black-led organizations make investment decisions in a way that best serves Black communities.

Grant for rental of spaces

The 2017 Emerging Immigrant and Refugee Communities (EIRC) Grant Program aligns with the City’s business plan by supporting immigrant and refugee communities that are new to Edmonton and are in the process of settling and integrating.

The Boost Your Business Technology Grant provides Canadian small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) with support to adopt new technologies to increase their competitiveness and resilience. Boost Your Business Technology can help you bring your business online, boost your online presence, or digitize your business operations. These grants are designed to help Canadian businesses become more competitive.

Canadian Summer Jobs Grant

CSJ is a program of the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy, which aims to provide flexible and holistic services to help all young Canadians develop the skills and gain paid work experience to successfully transition to the job market.

New Horizons for Seniors Program Grant

The New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP) is a federal grants and contributions program that funds projects that improve the lives of seniors and their communities.

Grants for the economic development of the North and regions

The Northern and Regional Economic Development Program (NRED) funds initiatives led by Alberta municipalities, Indigenous communities and not-for-profit organizations that promote regional economic development and diversification. Funding Approved applicants are eligible to receive between $20,000 and $200,000 towards eligible project costs. While there is no maximum total cost for a project under the program, the grant will not exceed $200,000 per project.

Grants for small communities

The Small Communities Opportunities Program (the Program) provides grants to address challenges and opportunities in rural areas. Indigenous and small communities, and the not-for-profit groups they work with, can receive between $20,000 and $100,000 for local projects. By building the capacity of the agricultural sector and small businesses, these rural communities will increase their economic footprint. Eligibility Eligible Applicants Indigenous communities, Métis Settlements and small communities are eligible to apply if they meet the following characteristics of rural communities:

Women's Economic Recovery Challenge Grant

A December 2020 study by Canada’s Industrial Strategy Council indicates that removing barriers and promoting gender equality in the workplace could add an additional $150 billion to Canada’s GDP by 2026. The Women’s Economic Recovery Challenge Grant Program funds initiatives led by Alberta non-profit organizations that help improve women’s economic opportunities by providing strategies and solutions to overcome barriers and engage more effectively in the economy. Applicants must submit proposals in accordance with the specifications and conditions outlined in the grant program guidelines.
