The Workforce Development program supports Black community members in the Edmonton area and northern Alberta experiencing multiple barriers to finding and maintaining gainful employment. It accomplishes this through the deployment of extensive multidisciplinary wrap-around supports as participants progress through a multiphase training program.
Objectives
The Workforce Development Program has three primary objectives that it is designed to achieve:

We collaborate with local businesses to create job placement opportunities, ACANEA offers resume building, interview skills, and job search workshops. We establish a resource center with information on job opportunities ,legal advice, and education resources.
Collaboration with local community organizations, businesses, and government agencies to expand resources and opportunities. We organize networking events to connect Black Immigrants with professionals in their field. Foster a sense of community through culture events and support groups.
The Training For Work program provides job search support to unemployed EI eligible Albertans, semi-skilled and skilled needing employment change support, short term skill development and workforce adjustment. Training For Work is a no-cost, government-funded program designed for EI-eligible residents of Alberta who are actively seeking employment opportunities. This training program offers short-term skills development through individualized coaching as well as group-based workshops for cover letters, resumes, networking and interview skills. Funded by the Alberta Ministry of Jobs, Economy and Trade.
We establish mentorship programs connecting experienced professionals with Black immigrant , and we Provide career counseling services to help individuals set realistic career goals and develop action plans. Implement regular evaluations to measure the program's effectiveness. We use feedback to make continuous improvements and adjustment.
